Christopher Bolduc is an emerging barihunk whose career we're watching. He already has appeared on this site's "It's hot in Santa Fe" feature (http://barihunks.blogspot.com/2008/05/its-hot-in-sante-fe.html). He's a student of Bill Schuman at the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts and it looks like his career is about to take off complete with agency representation.
We noticed that he's booked this spring with the Palm Beach Opera and the Santa Fe Opera. He will also be appearing at that hotbed of barihunks, the Fort Worth Opera, as Belcore in L'Elisir d'Amore. You can watch a preview of his Belcore above. His agency profile states that he is currently preparing Marcello in La Boheme, Valentin in Faust and Silvio in I Pagliacci.

ReplyDeleteThere's a reason why Fort Worth is breeding ground to barihunks-- and it has everything to do with looks, and nothing to do with voices. Eye candy is nice. It's even nicer when there is ear candy involved. But with too many barihunks, it's all about the eyes and not about the ears.
ReplyDeleteChris is now singing a sensational Enrico in "Lucia" with AVA, some performances with his partner. In fact, their fiery duets onstage surely must reflect a spectacular offstage chemistry.

ReplyDeleteI've only heard Bolduc on a few videos, but I think he has all the makings of a very fine baritone. He turns in excellent renditions of Ford's great aria from Falstaff and Lescaut in the thrilling finale of Act II of Puccini's opera. Very intelligent, feeling, virile, passionate. I wish I could see the Fort Worth Belcore, and I am expecting from him a major career.
