Men in Tights: David Adam Moore & Co.
The San Diego Opera has been promoting their current production of Gounod's "Romeo and Juliet" by touting the real life married couple of Stephen Costello and Ailyn Perez. They are both young, attractive and extremely talented, but we think the big draw is barihunk David Adam Moore and his fellow crew of men in tights. There is still a matinee performance this Sunday. For more information visit the San Diego Opera's website.
[David Adam Moore and tenor Stephen Costello]
Moore is one of our favorite barihunks in the world today and he often appears on stage shirtless in pieces like Billy Budd, Angels in America and Soldier Stories. We received two emails bemoaning the fact that Moore doesn't remove his shirt in R&J, but that he's still the hottest man on the stage. So in order not to disappoint, here is one of Moore's sexier shots, which also happens to be the homepage of his recently redesigned website.

I just had the privilege and extreme pleasure of attending San Diego Opera's final performance of Gounod's Romeo and Juliet.
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent production! The score of course is gorgeous and the staging today was topnotch. All of the cast and chorus were outstanding. Forgive me for commenting first on Tenohunk Stephen Costello but he was magnificent. Not only is he handsome of face and hunky of body but his voice soared and captivated throughout the performance. Bravo. And as the principal "Man in Tights"...whoa!!
Now on to David Adam Moore, Barihunk extraordinaire. Mr. Moore did not disappoint in any way. I found him even more handsome, hot and charismatic in person than what his photos convey.
A particularly charming aspect of his performance is that the personality of Mercutio is very playful and flirtatious. Unfortunately he dies in Act II and then disappointingly he did not re-appear for the curtain call. Only Capulet, the nurse, Romeo's page, Tybalt, Juliet and the stunning Romeo took a bow. What was D.A.M already in the showers?
This was a truly uplifting afternoon at the opera.
In closing let me share what to me is the moral of the story of Romeo & Juliet:
Never EVER accept pharmaceuticals from 'well-meaning' clerics.

ReplyDeleteDavid Adam Moore had to catch a plane to London where he is appearing in Angels In America next week. Sadly, his flight meant he could not take his final curtain call on Sunday.
Thank you for clarifying that SD Opera Man. It did seem rather strange when he didn't appear for curtain call.
