The great Robert Merrill was born on June 4, 1917 and died on October 23, 2004. This is unquestionably one of his greatest recordings. We can't think of a better way to honor him.
wonderful story about the Merrill-Bjorling partnership. During the recording of the wonderful Boheme they did under Beecham, Sir Thomas kept having them repeat the opening of ACT 4. They recorded it four or five times finally Merrill asked Sir Thomas if there was a problem. The avuncular Beecham blightly replied "No I just enjoying hearing you boys sing together."
