Zerlina's barihunk dilemma in Monte-Carlo

Erwin Schrott and Fernando Javier Radó in Don Giovanni
Two of the hottest barihunks ever to step on stage for Mozart's Don Giovanni will actually share the spotlight in the same production. South America should be proud, as Argentinian Fernando Javier Radó and Uruguayan Erwin Schrott sing Masetto and the title role respectively at the Opera de Monte-Carlo from March 20-29.

The all-star cast also includes Sonya Yoncheva. the hottest soprano sensation in the world right now, as Donna Elvira. Patrizia Ciofi sings Donna Anna, tenor Maxim Mironov takes on the role of Don Ottavio and Adrian Sampetrean rounds out the low male voices as Leporello. Loriana Castellano as Zerlina must have the most enviable job of all, as both Masetto and Don Giovanni vie for her attention.

Erwin Schrott sings "Madamina" from Don Giovanni:

If you can't make it to Monte-Carlo, Radó will be singing Masetto at the Paris Opera this Fall and at the Dutch National Opera next Spring. Schrott will sing the title role again on August 29th at the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland.

Fernando Javier Radó was born in Buenos Aires and in 2006 he became the youngest member of the Colón Theatre choir and the Colón Theatre’s Superior Arts Institute.

Gianluca Margheri back as Don Giovanni; Debuts new website

Gianluca Margheri from Zomeropera's Don Giovanni
Italian barihunk and calendar model Gianluca Margheri finally has a website, where you can follow his career. It's loaded with great pictures and video. The first that caught our eye is that he'll be taking on Don Giovanni at the Hungarian State Opera from March 20-26. It's a traditional performance of the opera, so expect another shirtless, sexy, testosterone fueled performance like the one from Zomeropera last year.

You can enjoy some excerpts from that performance below or on his YouTube site.

Next up is Rossini's Stabat Mater at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino on May 14th. He'll be joined by tenor Edgardo Rocha and mezzo-soprano Marina Comparato.

We're still baffled why no-one in the United States has engaged this amazing talent. Make sure to check out his website and follow him on Twitter @GianlucaMargher.

Christopher Maltman and Fernando Radó as Don Giovanni
If you can't catch Margheri there are plenty of other barihunk performances of Mozart's Don Giovanni. Christopher Maltman will take on the role Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City from March 17-29. Opéra de Monte-Carlo will feature Erwin Schrott as the Don and Fernando Javier Radó as Masetto with the amazing Sonya Yoncheva as Donna Elvira. The Metropolitan Opera has two remaining performances left with Peter Mattei, Luca Pisaroni and Adam Plachetka as the male leads.

Another Hot Giovanni: Fernando Javier Radó

A year after creating a sensation at the Cardiff Singer of the Year competition, Fernando Javier Radó found himself performing the title role in Don Giovanni at Argentina's Teatro Colón. Radó electrified audiences with his erotic portrayal of the womanizing rake in this updated production by Daniel Suárez Marzal.

Radó clearly had the hometown audience on his side. He was born in Buenos Aires in 1986 and became the youngest member of the Colón Theatre choir and the Colón Theatre's Superior Arts Institute. After his success at Cardiff, he's been working primarily in Europe where he has sung Sparafucile in Rigoletto, the Bonze in Madama Butterfly and Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor and other smaller roles. His success as Don Giovanni will undoubtedly speed up his career path. From the reaction of the audience and local bloggers he has become and instant fan favorite. From the look of these pictures we can certainly see why.

Don Giovanni returns to Teatro Colón with barihunk Daniel Okulitch in the title role on July 20, 23 and 25. This will be Okulitch's debut as Don Giovanni.
