sorr but i prefer something more...classic..ie gedda and vanzo...
ReplyDeleteCan we get Polenzani and Gunn together? I think their sounds would really compliment the best on the duet.
ReplyDeleteDid they freeze the picture just before Dimitri and Paul kissed?
ReplyDelete@Countervail: I totally agree. I liked all of the baritones, but Paul Groves was almost TOO French, Vargas and Alvarez too Italian. Burden was pretty good, but Polenzani really does it best. Where did the Kwiecien one come from?
ReplyDeleteAlvarez and Hampson for me, althouhg nobody can match Bjorling and Merrill !!
ReplyDeleteThe Kwiecien came from a 2004 cd call "A Night at the Opera" featuring Kwiecien, Polenzani, Indra Thomas, Kristen Jepson and Valerin Ruminski.
ReplyDeleteAgree Bjorling and Merrill are definitive but what Paul Groves is doing here is beyond me. No way is he an opera singer
ReplyDeleteNeville
My favorite video to date was Alagna and Terfel at the Met Gala. A bit over wrought but thrilling nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteThe Keenlyside/Polenzani version is really very good. If only we could get Keenlyside and Alvarez together. Those voices are so beautiful and lyrical and would be the perfect match.
ReplyDeleteI heard Polanzani and Gunn sing this duet at a Chicago concert a few years back. And yes, their voices worked together beautifully. Amazing.
ReplyDeletemy favourites are Simon Keenlyside and Dmitri Hvorostovsky ,so it is a problem:-))))
ReplyDeletehow about a di Luna contest? Who could sing the best Il balen :-))?
