Nicholas Masters
The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia continues to churn out barihunks like Beyonce churns out hit songs. Meet Nicholas Masters, an adorable bass who recently performed in Monteverdi's "Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria" and Puccini's "La Boheme" at Wolf Trap Opera. At AVA he has performed in Lucia di Lammermoor, Falstaff and Anna Bolena.

Nick will be Oroveso, La Roche and Colline with AVA. He'll also be in DC for the next round of Met auditions (the best "Il lacerato spirito" this side of Kipnis and Pinza). He also amazes in AVA's Russian recitals with that incredible rolling bass voice. And, like other AVA barihunks we know and love, Nick's fun to chat with, very knowledgeable about bass history. I believe he studies with William Stone.
ReplyDeletehe's also fluent in french....imagine hearing that voice in that language humming low in your ear...mmmm, yummy
