Mariusz Kwiecien: Hot In Any Role

[Photo by Axel Zeininger - courtesy of Vienna State Opera]

Bel Canto opera isn't usually a hot bed for barihunks, but Mariusz Kwiecien can look sexy singing almost anything. Here he is as Riccardo in Bellini's "I Puritani" in Vienna. Kwiecien was scheduled to travel from the Austrian capitol to New York City where he was slated to sing Escamillo at the Met. However, according to our friend La Cieca, Kwiecien has canceled today's performance and is being replaced by the incredible Dwayne Croft.

  1. Yes, bel canto is sexy, in the voice more than in the flesh - Belcore, Malatesta, Enrico, and others I've missed. We love Mariusz in all these roles. He should stick to bel canto and Mozart and leave Escamillo alone.

  2. I agree. I wish he would stick with what he's good at. I saw him as Escamillo this winter and that role just sucked all the sex out of him (surprisingly enough.
